Commencing students have access to a range of scholarships based on
financial need. This includes Equity Scholarships (valued at $2500), Bursaries
(valued at $1000) and free computers. Commencing students also have access
to Commonwealth Scholarships (valued at either $2100 or $4200 per annum

Oodgeroo Noonuccal Undergraduate Scholarship
Program
The aim of the scholarship program is to promote the pursuit of Indigenous
rights and justice through supporting the education of Indigenous people.
The value of the scholarship is $5000 for the following purposes:
- purchase of a computer
- travel expenses
- textbooks
- other costs associated with completing your degree.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must be:
* an Indigenous Australian
* accepted into a course of study either in literature, education, history,
cultural studies, law, justice or race relations in 2008.

Leaders
The Charlie Bell Scholarship for Future Leaders was created to recognise the late Charlie Bell's commitment to individual development and will reward up to three individuals up to $15 000 each towards their tuition fees for the 2009 academic year.

The Commonwealth Bank (CBA) pays suitable undergraduate students who
are undertaking full-time study and are entering university directly from
Year 12. The scholarship is worth $1500.

Rural Allied Health Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme
The Rural Allied Health Undergraduate Scholarship (RAHUS) Scheme is an Australian Government initiative to support rural origin individuals to undertake allied health and oral health degrees so they may pursue a clinical career in rural and remote Australia.
The RAHUS Scheme is open to individuals with a rural background studying an allied health degree in:

Applicants must be entering or currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited or approved undergraduate or graduate entry level Australian allied health or oral health degree.

Dean's Scholars Program
The Dean’s Scholars Program is for outstanding students and combines engineering studies with leadership development and focused industry networking. All tuition fees will be covered for domestic students and one-third of tuition fees for international students. High-performing students can take up the opportunity to continue funded study to masters level. Students must complete a questionnaire to be eligible.

Corporate Partners in Excellence
The Corporate Partners in Excellence (CPIE) program offers high-achieving
school leavers an accelerated program of study and up to two semesters
work experience with one or more of the participating organisations within
three years.
The program is open to students wishing to undertake any major in Business.
The scholarship is worth $28 500 with students receiving $9500 a year
for the three-year duration of their degree to cover fees, plus an allowance
for textbooks, living or professional expenses paid each semester.

Dean's Honours Program
The Faculty of Business Dean's Honours Program offers OP 1 or 2 students
an accelerated study program, allowing graduation with a Bachelor of Business
and Honours degree in the three years it normally takes to achieve the
Bachelor of Business.
The Dean’s Honours Program will pay 50 percent of undergraduate fees and 100 per cent of honours fees for domestic students. The international student scholarship is valued at $30 000 (paid as a fee waiver spread over the three years).
An honours degree signals to potential employers that you are someone
with exceptional ability, motivation and commitment to your field. You
will integrate practical and conceptual knowledge gained through your
degree into an independent research project.

Creative Industries

I work part-time as a rock climbing instructor and I also do busking.
This helps to pay for my living expenses and my scholarship money
pays for my course at university. I will be working as a volunteer
at 4EBFM radio station throughout my course to gain further technical
skills and to improve my network of contacts in the industry.

Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarships
The Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarships (previously the Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander Teaching Scholarships) were developed by the Department
of Education, Training and the Arts to assist aspiring teachers of Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander descent to complete their degrees and make
a difference in education.
Valued at up to $20,000 each over four years, up to 15 scholarships are
awarded to applicants of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage
to assist them in gaining degrees in education at Queensland universities.

Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Scholarships
Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship SchemeThe Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme is open
to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants* and is funded by
the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing, and administered
by Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA).
Scholarships will be available for the start of the 2009 academic year
and are worth up to $7,500 per year for part time study and up $15,000
per year for full time study.
Scholarships will be available for students who wish to study in 2009
at the undergraduate level in the areas of:
- Aboriginal Health Worker
- Allied Health (excluding pharmacy)
- Dentistry/Oral Health
- Health Service Management
- Health Promotion/Education
- Medicine
- Mental Health
- Midwifery
- Nursing
Selection will be based on criteria including demonstrated interest and
experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, leadership
qualities and financial need. This selection is not based on academic
achievement.
*Applicants must identify as and be able to prove their
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status.

School of Psychology & Counselling Undergraduate Scholarship for
Indigenous Students
This scholarship is awarded to an Indigenous student commencing the Bachelor
of Behavioural Science (Psychology) course and is valued at half the student’s

Dean’s Scholars Program
This program offers an accelerated pathway in all the Faculty’s undergraduate single degrees for OP 1 or 2 students. Students can complete both an undergraduate and honours degree in three years, instead of four.
During the program, students will be given the opportunity to build industry
contacts through special award events and undergraduate excellence events.
While enrolled in the Dean’s Scholars Program, domestic students
will have all undergraduate and Honours tuition fees paid by the Faculty.
International students enrolled in the Dean’s Scholars Program will
have a third of their tuition fees paid by the Faculty for the undergraduate
and Honours program.
Students with an OP 1 or 2 are encouraged to apply.

From 2006, all Indigenous students studying the Bachelor of Information Technology will receive financial support in the form of textbook vouchers in Semesters 1 and 2. This initiative is designed to encourage and support Indigenous students whilst they undertake their undergraduate studies.

QUT Law Founders Scholarship
Graduates of the QUT School of Law, the legal profession and the University
created the QUT Law Founders Scholarship.
This scholarship is offered to a first-year
student enrolled full-time or part-time in a Bachelor of Laws or a law double
degree who is facing social and/or economic hardship. It is equivalent to up to one year of HECS-HELP.

Dean's Scholars Accelerated Honours Program
The Dean's Scholars Accelerated Honours Program enables students with

Each year, one or two student equity bursaries of approximately $500 are
available to QUT students from socially or financially disadvantaged situations

Trevor Lewis Memorial Bursary
The bursary is awarded each year to a student entering the Physics Honours
course or the Coursework Masters in Medical Physics in that year. The
value of the bursary is $1,000. Applicants will be judged on their academic
record prior to entry into the course. Applicants must be enrolled in
the required course in order to receive the bursary.
The Trevor Lewis Memorial Bursary will be on offer in 2009. Applications
open in February 2009.

Mathematics Bursary
The Mathematics Bursary Program was established to foster studies in
mathematics and statistics. A number of bursaries are provided by employers
to assist full-time students in the Bachelor of Mathematics or the Mathematics
double degrees with Business, Information Technology, Science or Engineering.
Each bursary is valued at $3000, payable in installments over the length
of the course.
